Wise 64th anniversary
Vernon and Sarah Wise of Butler celebrated 64 years of marriage with a family dinner.
The former Sarah Jayne Cromwell wed Vernon Laing Wise Jr. on June 27, 1953, at Hill United Presbyterian Church in Butler.
Bernice Matachak of Allison Park was the bride's attendant.
David Wise served as best man for his brother, and the ushers were Princeton classmates of the groom, Maurice Cohill Jr. of Pittsburgh and Walter Braham Jr. of New Castle.
The reception was at the home of the groom's mother, Mrs. Willis A. Daubenspeck, 921 E. Pearl St.The couple made a wedding trip to Washington, D.C., Virginia Beach and Irvington, Va.They have two children, Jamie Lanier of Cincinnati and Vernon L. “Chip” Wise III of Butler.They also have six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.Wise retired from the Butler Eagle, where he was president and CEO.Mrs. Wise was a Miss Pennsylvania in 1948.They enjoy their farm and driving American Saddlebred horses.
