Beatrice E. Knappenberger Shearer

Beatrice E. Knappenberger Shearer, 98, of Greenville, formerly of Kittanning, Hadley and Clarks Mills, died Saturday at St. Paul's Home in Greenville.

She was born Sept. 6, 1918, in West Franklin Township, Armstrong County, to the late Joseph E. and Ella J. Edwards Knappenberger.

She was a homemaker and a nurses aide at the Armsdale Home for several years.

Beatrice married her husband, Albert H. Shearer Jr., on Oct. 29, 1938.

She was a member of the Perry Baptist Church of Hadley, Pa.

She enjoyed making candles, lap robes, jewelry and sewing and crafts. Her husband and she enjoyed traveling, and she loved spending time with her family.

Survivors include: her daughters, V. Adele (Richard) Barnhart of Chicora, Linda C. (Robert) Cosgrove of Hadley, Pa., and Kay L. (Carl) Earley of Shelocta, Pa.; her sons, A. Harold Shearer of Butler, Gary J. (Mary) Shearer of South Hamilton, Mass., Arnold V. (Ione) Shearer of Hermitage, Ray L. (Phyllis) Shearer of Clarks Mills, Harland L. Shearer of West Alexander and Alan R. Shearer of Shelocta, Pa.; 19 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; four great-great-granddaughters; nine step grandchildren; five step great-grandchildren; one step great-great-grandchild; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.

Beatrice was proceeded in death by her husband Albert H. Shearer Jr.; her parents, Joseph and Ella Edwards Knappenberger; four brothers, Norwood, Percy, Arnold and Billie Knappenberger; three sisters, Freda Ruffaner, Vera Wheat and Wretha Grafton; two granddaughters; one step granddaughter; and four daughters-in-law, Anna Shearer, Barbara Shearer, Brenda Shearer and Rose Marie Shearer

SHEARER — Friends of Beatrice E. Knappenberger Shearer, who died Saturday, June 24, 2017, will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the F. Duane Snyder Funeral Home in Worthington.Additional visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Grace Baptist Church, 527 Butler Road, Kittanning, with the Rev. James Sodano officiating.
