A figure of Tuskegee Airman Lt. Carl Woods of Mars is one of four in the “We Can Do It! WWII” traveling exhibition open through Aug. 6 at the Butler County Historical Society.

The “We Can Do It! WWII” exhibition, featuring the development of the Jeep in Butler and the contributions of Tuskegee Airmen like Lt. Carl Woods of Mars, remains open through Aug. 6 at the Butler County Historical Society.

The Tuskegee Airmen were African-American flyers, and Woods of Mars was killed over the Adriatic Sea in 1944 while on a bombing mission.

The lifelike museum figures also include Gen. George Marshall, Iwo Jima hero Sgt. Michael Strank, and Rosie the Riveter.

Visitors can learn about the development of the Jeep, produced by the American Bantam Car Co. in Butler.

Items of interest from Butler County soldiers and industry are on display as the Butler County Historical Society partners with the Slippery Rock Preservation Society and the Harmony Museum.

The exhibit, created by the Senator John Heinz History Center, is visiting 18 Western Pennsylvania organizations.

The exhibit is in the Senator Walter Lowrie House, 123 W. Diamond St. Admission is free.

Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesdays, noon to 8 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. The exhibit is closed Mondays and Tuesdays for group tours.
