Charles R. Wilbert Sr.

Charles R. Wilbert Sr., 67, of Callery passed away on Wednesday at UPMC Passavant Hospital, surrounded by his family.

Born Feb. 15, 1950, in Herman, Pa., he was the son of the late Earl Wilbert and Catherine McGee Wilbert.

Charles proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and received a Purple Heart for the service he provided for our country. Charles was a correctional officer with the Butler prison for 10 years and the Western Penitentiary for 10 years. He was a life member of the Kane VFW Post 1132 and the Kane American Legion.

Charles leaves behind to cherish his memory his daughter, Tammy Wilbert of Evans City; his son, Charles R. “Jay” Wilbert Jr. and his wife, Crystal, of Callery; seven grandchildren, Richard and Victoria Wilbert, Nathaniel Fleeger, and Michaela, Maddison, Bonnie and Lane Wilbert; and numerous brothers and sisters.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen A. Walsh, in 2006; and his son, Gary L. Wilbert, in 2015.

WILBERT — The family of Charles R. Wilbert Sr., who died Wednesday, June 28, 2017, will welcome friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Boylan Funeral Home, 116 E. Main St., Evans City.A funeral ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, where military honors will be conducted following the service.Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family at www.boylanfuneralservices.com.
