Woman accused of endangering child
A Butler woman has been charged with one felony count of endangering the welfare of children for allegedly driving under the influence of a controlled substance with a 7-year-old child in her car.
City police say they were dispatched to the 400 block of West Jefferson Street on July 6 after a report of an intoxicated woman. When officers arrived they found Samantha Yoder, 35, of 107 Maharg St. with an unsteady gate and delayed speech. Police say Yoder failed a field sobriety test and was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood draw, which later came back positive for the drugs Alprazolam and two varieties of THC.
Police said they also found eight strips of suboxone in Yoder’s wallet during a search, and said she could not produce a prescription for the medication.
According to online court documents, Yoder has been charged with endangering the welfare of children, possession of a controlled substance, and driving under the influence of a controlled substance.
