Allegheny County woman waives charges in theft case

Rings allegedly taken from home

CRANBERRY TWP — An Allegheny County woman is accused of stealing more than $4,000 in jewelry from a township home.

Megan Lynn Horner, 36, of Ross Township, is charged with theft and conspiracy for allegedly stealing two rings from a home on Kirkwood Drive. She waived all charges to county court Aug. 11, where she will be arraigned Sept. 19.

Police responded to Christina Brink's home on Kirkwood Drive June 4 after she found a diamond engagement ring and wedding band missing from a jewelry box on her bedroom dresser.

Brink said she was having some work done on her front porch and her landscaper recommended she use his son-in-law Dale Enders Jr. for the job. Enders and his wife, Horner, stopped by on June 2 with their daughter to discuss the work.

While at the home, Brink said Horner asked to use the bathroom twice, according to court papers.

Brink noticed the next day that the two rings were missing. She showed police that there was a sliding door between the bathroom and bedroom, and said no one used the bathroom since Horner used it the previous day, court documents said.

Brink valued the diamond engagement ring at $3,500 and the wedding band at $1,000.

Police found Brink's engagement ring was sold by Enders for $105 to a gold buying business.

Horner was released from Butler County Prison Aug. 14 on $5,000 bond.
