Michael Smaretsky

Our beloved Michael Smaretsky, 84, of Butler, passed away Sundayat VNA Hospice.

That day, the world lost a remarkable man. He cared for everyone and was the first to offer help to anyone in need. His beautiful smile was adored by all.

Mike was a proud U.S. Army veteran who served as a medic during the Korean War. He retired from Armco in 1994 and was an avid gardener.

He is survived by his loving wife, Barrie Smaretsky, and his son, Michael Alexander Smaretsky Jr., of Butler.

He is also survived by his daughter-in-law, Jill Smaretsky; his granddaughter, Kaitlin Smaretsky; his grandsons, Ryan and Philip Smaretsky, and Trevor and Gavin Smith, of Sewickley.

He is also survived by his sister, Kathryn Smaretsky; along with three great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his daughter, Tammi Smaretsky Smith, and his son, Douglas Smaretsky, who both died over the past two years.

We cherish all of the wonderful moments that we had together and his memory will continue to light our hearts forever.

SMARETSKY — The family of Michael Smaretsky, who died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2017,will welcome friendsfrom 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesdayat the Boylan Funeral Home and Cremation Center of Connoquenessing Township, 856 Evans City Road, Renfrew.

Funeral services will immediately follow at 8 p.m., and all are asked to join the family for a special military tribute following the service.Mike will be laid to rest at the Rose Hill Cemetery.
