William Arthur “Bill” Rossiter
William Arthur “Bill” Rossiter, 79, of Tidioute, Pa., went to his eternal rest July 18 at UPMC Hamot Hospital in Erie.
Bill was born in Worthington on Nov. 27, 1937, a son to the late Arthur Rossiter and Evelyn Pearl Benton Rossiter. He was a graduate of Karns City High School and continued his education, majoring in library science at Clarion State Teachers College. Bill went on to get his master's degree in education at Canisius College in Buffalo, N.Y., and also furthered his education at the University of Buffalo. Bill's military service was served in the National Guard of New York.
Bill was employed as a librarian in Panama, N.Y., and then became director of the school library and Media of State Schools of Montana and was also in charge of film for the entire state of Montana. Bill worked as a librarian at Canisius College before and after living in Montana. Later, he was employed at the National Forge Co. in Irvine, Pa., for 25 years, working numerous positions, the last being a plumber.
Bill belonged to several organizations such as the Tidioute Volunteer Fire Department, Olive Temple Lodge 575, Sherman, N.Y., the Consistory of Scottish Rite, Helena, Mont., and the former Temple Lodge 412, Tidioute, Pa. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and reading.
Bill and Nancimay Silia were married Dec. 27, 1960, in Corry, Pa., at the Episcopal Church. Nancimay is a resident of the Rouse Home in Youngsville, Pa., and survives him along with a son, Arthur William “Bruce” Rossiter and his wife, Rose-Ann, of Austin, Texas; a sister-in-law, Bonnie Rossiter; and two nieces, Lynn Campbell and her husband, Michael, and Heather Hillard and her husband, Scott.
In addition to his parents, Bill is preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Sarah, who died Dec. 2, 1992; and a brother, Robert Rossiter, who died Sept. 18, 2009.
William Arthur Rossiter, husband, father and dear friend will be lovingly missed by all.
ROSSITER — A memorial service for William Arthur “Bill” Rossiter, who died Tuesday, July 18, 2017, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church, 196 Main St., Tidioute, with Pastor Dennis Ledebur of the Irvine Presbyterian Church officiating.Military honors will be presented by the Pequinot Yeager VFW Post 8803 of Tidioute, Pa.
