Church group prays for police
Church Without Walls went to the Butler City Police Department Wednesday to pray for and thank the officers.
“This was just one of those things that we thought would be helpful to the police, just to let them know that we're supporting them,” said Lisa Gill, a member of Church Without Walls.
Church Without Walls is a collective of several churches in and around Butler which meets monthly to pray and share information about goals and events.
Members of the group circled around with police officers in the station and prayed for the safety of the officers. They also gave thanks for them.
“I hear the sirens constantly when I'm in my office,” Gill told the officers. “I know you guys are busy nonstop, so we just wanted to say thank you for the sacrifice that you make.”
The police department expressed gratefulness for Church Without Walls' appearance.
“We can use all the prayers and blessings we can get,” said chief Ron Brown.
Detective Nate Shulik also chimed in.
“We don't hear that often from a lot of people we deal with, so thank you,” he said.
Attendees included members of Faith Fellowship Alliance Church, Trinity Lutheran Church, St. Michael the Archangel Parish, St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, St. John's Reformed Church, First United Methodist Church, St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lutheran Lay Renewal of America and Intersection Community Church.
