Man gets probation for felony trespassing

A Mars man charged with breaking into a woman's Slippery Rock Township apartment was sentenced to probation in Butler County Court on Thursday.

Barry J. Murray, 22, was sentenced to 30 months probation, given credit for 29 days of time served and ordered to pay court costs by Judge William Shaffer.

Murray previously pleaded guilty to felony criminal trespass on Oct. 4.

He was initially charged with felony burglary, trespass, misdemeanor criminal mischief and disorderly conduct after an incident on Sept. 25.

The remaining charges were dismissed as part of the plea.

State police charged Murray after he kicked in the door of the home.

The victim told police that she knew Murray from high school, according to court documents. She said Murray told her that he was looking for two other individuals who owed him drug money. He later realized, documents said, that he had targeted the wrong apartment.
