Mark A. “Trapper” Cozad

Mark A. “Trapper” Cozad, 59, of Clintonville, passed away unexpectedly Sunday of a brain aneurysm shortly after his arrival in the emergency department at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Youngstown, Ohio.

Mark was born in Grove City, March 13, 1958. He was the son of the late Robert H. and Betty M. (Carnahan) Cozad. He was a 1976 graduate of Slippery Rock High School and was of the Christian faith.

“Trapper” was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, kayaking, gardening and canning. Mark was a recent retiree of a 40-year truck driving career.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret A. “Peggy” O'Neil Cozad, whom he married in Rockland, July 17, 1999. He is also survived by his stepson, Braden Blair of Clintonville; a brother, Steve H. Cozad and his wife, Laura, of Forestville; and three sisters, Karen L. Busi and her husband, Pete, of Slippery Rock, Sue Buchanan, and her husband, Chuck, of Mercer and Yvette D. Frampton and her husband, Ted Prorok, of Harrisville; his mother-in-law, Carol O'Neil of Rockland; two sisters-in-law, Tammy Metts and her companion, Steve Hollis, of Lake Lucy, and Billie Graham and her husband, Don, of Seneca; as well as a number of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Luanne Gills; a stepdaughter, Amanda Blair; his father-in-law, William O'Neil; and a sister-in-law, Marcy O'Neil.

COZAD — Family and friends of Mark A. “Trapper” Cozad, who died Sunday, Oct. 1, 2017, will be received from noon until 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, 2017, for a celebration of his life at Rockland United Methodist Church. A memorial service, officiated by church pastor, the Rev. James Kimmel, will follow at 1 p.m., as well as a dinner.
