Philomenia “Fanny” Greenawalt

Philomenia “Fanny” Greenawalt, 89, of East Brady, formerly of Hopewell, died Tuesday at Good Samaritan Hospice.

Born Aug. 10, 1928, in Bradys Bend, she was the daughter of Paul and Grace (Silverio) DeBacco.

On April 30, 1949, Fanny married the late Donald G. Greenawalt. He preceded her in death May 17, 2009.

Fanny was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Bradys Bend where she was involved with the Young at Heart group.

She was a member of the Hopewell Civic Club, she was a homeroom mother, provided Meals on Wheels and was a member of the Quarterback Club Ladies Auxiliary.

Fanny enjoyed playing 500 Rummy, cooking and crocheting. She will be remembered as a wonderful person.

Surviving are two daughters, Deborah Fiorilli of Largo, Fla., and Cathy (Michael Rivera) Greenawalt of Baltimore, Md.; two sons, James (Suzanne) Greenawalt of Minneapolis, Minn., and Christopher Greenawalt of Mechanicsburg; five grandchildren, Zack, Jessica, Courtney, Luke Greenawalt and Ashley Fiorilli; and three great- grandchildren, Harriet and Victor Greenawalt, and Francesca Philomenia Martinez.

Fanny is also survived by six brothers, John (Irene), Ralph, Robert (Betty), Ronald (Jane), Domenic (Yvonne) and Louis (Mary) DeBacco; one sister, Loretta (Francis) Posey; two sisters-in-law, Florence DeBacco and Betty Gailbreth; and one uncle, Patsy Silverio.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one sister, Ann Andreassi; and one brother, Victor DeBacco.

GREENAWALT — Friends of Philomenia “Fanny” Greenawalt, who died Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2017, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Buechele Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 707 Kellys Way, East Brady.A parish prayer service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church with the Rev.
