4-H members recognized at annual banquet
More than 190 4-H volunteers, members and guests recognized leaders and members at the Butler County 4-H Clover Corner's annual Achievement Banquet Nov. 6 at the General Butler Vagabonds.
XTO Energy was recognized as this year's Friend of 4-H. Over the years, the company's gifts have been used to defray costs of the Junior Livestock Sale, help send children to local, state and national events and support the group's scholarship fund.
Leaders recognized for their years of service, increments of five years, were:
First year: Cindy Arturo, Unionville Sewing; Laura Kellar, Robotics; Janette Novak, Mitchell and Misty Thurber, Saxonburg Sprouts; and Sue Stein, Lutherlyn Equestrians.
Five years: Beth Flick, Youth Council; Colleen Mack, Robotics; JoAnn Randolph, Trail Riders; and Karla McEachin, Youth Council.
Ten years: Dr. Keith Harvey, Beef Breeders; Kathy Hartzell, B&B Judging; Kathy McCurdy, Unionville Sewing; Terri Raabe, West Sunbury Wranglers; Cyndi Sorg, Green Meadows; Cara Stephenson, Kids & Critters; and Shana Sutej, Livestock Club.
Fifteen years: Kati Colteryahn, Junior Agriculturalist; and Deb Switzer, Trail Riders.
Twenty years: Tina Bryner, Caprine Connection.
Forty years: Barb Rader, Travel Club.
Awards also were presented to Rachel Beacom, daughter of Kevin and Amy Beacom of Tarentum, Outstanding Junior 4-H'er; Taylor Kennedy, daughter of John and Valerie Kennedy of Valencia, Outstanding Intermediate 4-H'er; and Shirlann Harmon, daughter of Mark and Kathleen Harmon of Evans City, Outstanding Senior 4-H'er.
