Kenneth E. “Gene” Brown Sr.

Kenneth E. “Gene” Brown Sr., 63, of Edinburg, Pa., formerly of Chicora, died early Friday morning at his residence following an illness.

He was born in Kaylor, Armstrong County, June 23, 1954. He is the son of the late Merle Jackson Brown and Catherine E. (Corbett) Brown.

He was a welder for Ty-Brook of Eau Claire for several years, David Joseph Company for nine years where he cut railroad cars; Food Arena, which is now Giant Eagle in Butler, for 10 years; and Walmart for 10 years, until he became disabled.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, demolition derby, watching “Blue Bloods” and John Wayne movies. He also enjoyed listening to country music.

Kenneth married Sandra L. (Iman) Brown, June 27, 1975. She died Dec. 4, 2015.

He is survived by a daughter, Diana (Gregg) Berry of Chicora; two sons, Randall (Anna) Rottman of Chicora and Kenneth “Bo” Brown Jr. of Edinburg; his four grandchildren, Rachell Rottman, Leah Rottman, Zane Rottman and Emily Berry; six brothers, Bill Brown of Boardman, Ohio, Robert (Tena) Brown of Corsica, Frank (Linda) Brown of Culpepper, Va., Denny (Janet) Brown of Scranton, David “Chick” (Janice “Tootie”) Brown of Reading, and Steve “Dud” Brown of Culpepper, Va.; two sisters, Kathy (Phillip) Dorr of Butler and Barbara (Paul) Smith of Karns City; two sisters-in-law, Pamela (Thomas) Knox of Bossier City, La., and Lynda Brown of Mount Pleasant, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews.

Kenneth was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Brown; and an infant sister.

BROWN — Friends of Kenneth E. “Gene” Brown Sr., who died Friday, Oct. 27, 2017, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at STEIGHNER FUNERAL HOME, 111 E. Slippery Rock and Main Streets, Chicora.Services will follow at 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, officiated by Jay Croyle, pastor of the Church of God of Prophesy in Karns City.
