Charlene Ann Shuler
Charlene Ann Shuler, 85, of Butler passed away Wednesday after a short battle with cancer at Sugar Creek Rest.
She was born Oct. 31, 1932, in Butler, the daughter of Charles and Marian Eleanor (Atwell) Midberry.
She graduated from Butler High School. She then went on to business school in Pittsburgh, and became a legal secretary.
She married Claude Shuler in 1955 and they had two daughters.
Claude died unexpectedly in 1963, and Charlene returned to work. She earned bachelor's and master's degrees while working and raising her girls. She retired from the Office of Children, Youth and Families in 2000.
She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church PCA and was active there in her younger years.
Charlene's great love was animals and she raised boxers and guinea pigs. She never met a dog she didn't love and dogs loved her too because of the treats in her purse. She also enjoyed baking and sharing her goodies.
Surviving are two daughters, Cheryl Shuler of Butler and Pamela Humphreys of Austin, Texas; two grandchildren, Kira Freeman and Gavin (Cristina) Shuler; and her nephew, Frank (Peggy) Cloud.
Preceding her in death along with her parents and her husband were her two sisters, Jane Nicholson and Pat Cloud; her nephew, Jack Cloud; and numerous pets including Chrissy, Bonnie, Bridget, Thor, Rocky, Rajah, Stacy and Cece.
SHULER — Friends of Charlene Ann Shuler, who died Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2017, will be received from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. Monday at Young Funeral Home, 127 W.
