ZELIENOPLE — The Get Fit Families Youth Triathlon is gearing up for its fifth annual Reindeer Race.

The event will run from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 16 at the Masonic Hall on Beaver Street in Zelienople.

The event will feature four races: a 5K, a one mile, a half-mile and a quarter-mile. Each is open to runners of all age groups with discounts for families of three or more who register.

Racers can compete in one or more races or all four.

Each participant will receive a Christmas ornament and a custom Reindeer Race winter hat.

Organizers expect about 200 runners to participate, and the top boys and girls ages 11 and under and 12 and older will win a scholarship to a Get Fit Families Summer Day Camp, worth $275.

There will be overall awards and age group awards.

The event features a holiday party with refreshments including French toast, gourmet hot cocoa, chili, soup and meatballs.
