Judith D. Whitesides

Judith D. Whitesides, 72, of Oakhurst, N.J., who spent all but her final year in the Pittsburgh area and lived in Zelienople for most of her adult life, died unexpectedly Saturday at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch, N.J.

Born April 22, 1945, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late Stephen J. and Stella J. Vinski.

Judy was a 1963 graduate of Mount Alvernia High School, then worked for a short time at Eljer Plumbing in downtown Pittsburgh before marrying and starting her family.

After her children were well into their school years, she rejoined the workforce as a claims adjuster at Erie Insurance Group in Cranberry Township, where she worked for nearly 30 years.

She enjoyed reading, classic movies, history and art. She was active as a troop leader with the Keystone Tall Tree Girl Scout Council, while her daughter was active in scouting and then led the council for a year.

Surviving are her daughter, Sherry L. Dietz, and son-in-law, Kenneth G. Dietz; her sisters, Nancy Zupancic of Etna, and Patricia Whitesides of Murrysville; her brother, David Vinski of Etna; her nephew, Steven Whitesides; and her nieces, Diane Craig and Sarah Vinski.

She was predeceased by her husband, Richard L. Whitesides, and her son, Michael S. Whitesides, both of Zelienople.

WHITESIDES — Friends of Judith D. Whitesides, who died Saturday, Nov. 18, 2017, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Boylan Funeral Home, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople.A funeral ceremony will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Pastor Reid Moon officiating.She will be laid to rest at English Lutheran Church Cemetery in Zelienople.Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family at www.boylanfuneralservices.com.
