Retired Chief Master Sgt. Richard “Dick” Leroy Taylor

Retired Chief Master Sgt. Richard “Dick” Leroy Taylor went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ Thursday.

He was a dedicated member of Resurrection Lutheran Church.

He was a proud U.S. Air Force career airman with many tours around the world and several combat tours in Vietnam.

Dick was a stickler for detail and organization. He believed in being a good steward, taking care of people and everything he owned.

Dick lived life to the fullest, sharing his faith, taking care of his family and serving our county. He was a husband, a father and a grandfather and enjoyed traveling and fellowshiping with many dear friends.

Dick was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Dixie Lee Taylor.

He is survived by his son, Steve Taylor, and his wife, Laurie, of Athole, Idaho; his son, Doug Taylor, and his wife, Robin, of Yorktown; and his daughter, Traci Spruill, and her husband, Ed, of Seaford.

He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Ben, Jake and Nick Taylor, Christian Taylor and his wife, Shay, of San Diego, Calif., Lindsay (Taylor) Horton and her husband, Matt, of Yorktown and Will Spruill and his wife, Val, of Newport News.

He is survived by three of his four sisters, Betty Bennett of Idaho, Kathy Marshall of Texas and Dona Bell of Illinois.

Dick will be greatly missed by so many dear friends with whom he shared many years of joy, including his very best friend and fellow airman, Retired Chief Master Sgt. Jesse Kelly of Pennsylvania.

TAYLOR — A celebration of life for Dick Taylor, who died Thursday, Nov. 29, 2018, will be held at noon Monday at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 765 J. Clyde Morris Blvd., Newport News, Va., with Pastor Hank Hollar officiating.Interment will be private in Hampton Veterans Memorial Gardens.Friends are encouraged to visit www.parklawn-woodfh.com to share words of comfort with the family.
