[naviga:h3]Meals on Wheels fundraiser canceled[/naviga:h3]

The annual Meals on Wheels fundraising dinner scheduled Tuesday has been canceled.

Mary Pataky, executive director of the Butler Meals on Wheels, said the dinner was canceled in light of the struggles the organization is experiencing after a water pipe burst in its East Jefferson Street office and meal preparation was moved to St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church on Center Avenue.

Pataky did not say whether the dinner would be rescheduled.

State Rep. Daryl Metcalfe, R-12th, will host his next firearms safety and rights seminar at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Mars VFW on Mars Valencia Road.

Butler County District Attorney Richard Goldinger and Butler County Sheriff Michael Slupe will speak on a wide variety of firearms safety and Second Amendment subjects, including the process for obtaining a permit to carry a concealed weapon and other information about state gun laws like the state’s Castle Doctrine.

Concealed carry license applications through the Butler County Sheriff’s Office also will be available at this event.

“This seminar offers the dual opportunity for local firearm owners to expand their knowledge of existing gun laws and to get their most important questions answered about freely, safely and responsibly exercising your God-given right to keep and bear arms,” Metcalfe said.

To reserve a seat, contact Metcalfe’s Cranberry Township district office at 724-772-3110 by Tuesday.
