Overnight TV heist gets man ARD

Jordan Evans

A Slippery Rock man was entered into the county Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition program in county court on Wednesday, on allegations that he stole electronics from a home.

Jordan G. Evans Sr., 26, was admitted into the program with two years' probation on charges of felony burglary and misdemeanor theft by Judge William Shaffer.

He was also ordered to pay court costs, restitution and complete 50 hours of community service.

Butler police filed the charges after an incident on Sept. 13.

Police said Evans was seen carrying a 48-inch flat-screen television in the 200 block of West Brady Street around 3 a.m. When confronted he claimed he had “just gotten kicked out of the place he was staying at,” according to court documents, “and (was) taking it to the new place he was going to be.”

An officer let Evans go. But a half-hour later police were called to a home on the 300 block of West New Castle Street for a reported burglary, where the resident woke to find his TV and PlayStation 4 video game console gone. He also noticed that the door to his apartment had been forced open.

Police said the resident showed officers text messages from a man he knew only as Jordan. The text sender “admitted to being inside the apartment while (the resident) was sleeping and also admitted to possessing his items,” according to a police affidavit.
