A Beaver County man who faced drug charges following a traffic stop in February 2017 was placed into the county Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition program in Butler County Court on Tuesday.

President Judge Thomas Doerr placed Logan R. Sheridan, 21, of New Brighton into the program with 12 months probation on the charge of driving under the influence under the age of 21.

He was also ordered to pay court costs, submit to a 90-day driver's license suspension, complete the county litter pickup program, attend a Victim Impact Panel, attend an Alcohol Highway Safety School and complete any suggested treatment or counseling.

Sheridan was initially charged with two felony counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, misdemeanor DUI by a person under 21, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, summary underage drinking and traffic violations.

The charges will be postponed until the program is completed, when they will be dismissed and possibly expunged. If Sheridan failed to successfully complete the program, prosecution of the charges will begin anew.

Slippery Rock police filed the charges after a traffic stop on Franklin Street, Slippery Rock, on Feb. 12.

The vehicle was pulled over for a burned out license plate light, and the odor of alcohol and marijuana was smelled coming from the vehicle. Police said Sheridan was driving with four passengers, none of whom was over 20 years old.

He later admitted being at a party where he drank three beers, police said. He also acknowledged that he regularly smokes marijuana.

A breath test subsequently showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.124 percent, documents said. Under state law, drivers younger than 21 who have a level of more than 0.02 percent are considered to be legally intoxicated.

A search of Sheridan's car turned up a Mason jar containing 12.1 grams of marijuana, police said.

Among other items seized were a prescription bottle containing 80 Adderall pills, a scale, $461 in currency and a cell phone.

On that cell phone police said they found dozens of text messages indicating he was selling marijuana, drug paraphernalia and prescription pills were found

The phone search also turned up allegedly compromising pictures, police said.

“There were numerous photographs of Sheridan using marijuana,” according to a police affidavit, “along with photographs of him in possession with marijuana with intent to distribute.”
