Saxonburg church damaged in hit and run
SAXONBURG — Borough police are looking for a truck suspected of hitting and damaging the Saxonburg Memorial Presbyterian Church on Main Street.
Police Chief Joe Beachem said a tractor trailer going to Du-Co Ceramics on Rebecca Street hit the historic church, most likely between 6:30 and 9 a.m. Jan. 31.
No one was in the church at the time and no injuries were reported, but the truck damaged a corner of the church and ripped siding from the building.
“It's pretty extensive damage to the corner where the cornerstone was and ripped all the siding off,” Beachem said.
He said police are looking for witnesses and trying to determine which trucking company had a truck there at the time.
