Betty Jane Thompson

Betty Jane Thompson, 85, of Eau Claire passed away at 7:24 a.m. Sunday at Good Samaritan Hospice-Concordia, following an extended illness.

Born Aug. 8, 1932, in Hooker, she was daughter of the late Joseph and Stella Boosel Mondell.

She was a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church of Eau Claire and graduated from the former Concord High School in Hooker.

Betty, along with her late husband, Dean, served as school bus contractor for the Allegheny-Clarion Valley School District from 1973 to 2000.

She was married in 1951 in Concord Township to the late C. Dean Thompson, who died June 17, 2017.

Betty is survived by two sons and their wives, Timothy Scott “Tim” and Laurie Thompson of Eau Claire and Rodney K. and Kimberly Thompson of Tulsa, Okla.; five grandsons, Quinnten, Justin (Erica), Zackery (Kelley) and twins, Cody and Kyle Thompson; four great-grandchildren, Ashton, Cameron and Caelynn (twins) and Carson Thompson; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her stepmother, Amanda Mondell; her sisters, Doris Wheaton and Lois Lominski; and one infant brother, Ralph Mondell.

THOMPSON — Friends of Betty Jane Thompson, who died Sunday, Jan. 7, 2018, may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the H. Jack Buzard Funeral Home, 201 S. Washington St., Eau Claire, where funeral services will follow at 8 p.m. Private burial will be at the Eau Claire Cemetery.
