Carol Jean Gonda Lingenfelter
Carol Jean Gonda Lingenfelter, 78, of Butler died peacefully Tuesday morning at her home with Carol, Robin and her grandchildren, following a one-year courageous struggle with lung cancer.
Born April 25, 1939, in Butler, she was a daughter of the late Michael J. Gonda and Olive Maxwell Gonda.
Carol was a homemaker, was a member of card club for 20 years and had bowled with the Flatheads for 32 years.
She loved spending time with her family and taking care of her beloved daughter, Robin. She was a caregiver to all who knew her and always offered delicious meals, cards and telephone conversations.
She was famous for her black raspberry jelly and apple pie.
She had volunteered for Meals on Wheels and the Butler County ARC for their Christmas parties and dances.
Surviving are her daughters, Carol L. (Raymond) Herrock of Butler, Robin D. Lingenfelter, at home, and Kathy (Guy) Smith of West Sunbury; one son, William Joseph Lingenfelter; her grandchildren, Megan (Tyler) Eroh of Worthington, Jarod (Brittney) Hesidence of Fenelton, Melissa (Raymond) Rumbaugh of Chicora, John (Kelley) Barbati of Butler and Brian Barbati of Butler; one great-grandson, Kip Eroh; two sisters, Amelia McClaine of Pittsburgh and Joyce (Thomas) Stivison of Punta Gorda, Fla.; one brother, Ronald M. Gonda of Butler; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Jacob Lingenfelter, who died Dec. 26, 2000; and two brothers, Michael C. Gonda and Albert J. Gonda.
LINGENFELTER — Friends of Carol Jean Gonda Lingenfelter, who died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2018, will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.Services will follow at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. The Rev. Harry Bielewicz, pastor, will officiate.
