SUMMIT TWP — A suspected armed robber is behind bars on $500,000 bail following his arrest in connection with an alleged Sunday night home invasion at a Hyvue Lane trailer, authorities said.

State police arrested Daniel N. Cervone, 24, of Butler Township, accusing him of brandishing a gun and making off with $60, a pair of cell phones and a pack of cigarettes in the holdup about 10 p.m.

A family of four — including two young children — were at the mobile home but no one was injured.

Police arrested Cervone about 10 a.m. Monday on Center Avenue in Butler. District Judge Lewis Stoughton later arraigned him on charges of robbery, trespass and theft.

The adult victims — a 22-year-old-man and his 21-year-old girlfriend — told investigators that they heard a noise at the rear door before someone knocked at the front door.

The man recounted that when he opened the door, he saw Cervone, who he previously knew, according to court documents. The defendant was holding a handgun.

Cervone and three other males forced their way into the home, the man told police. Both adult victims were held to the ground at gunpoint as the robbers went throughout the home.

Charging documents did not indicate how many of the intruders were armed. It also was not known if police have identified any other suspects in the investigation.

“One of the (intruders) pointed his handgun at the two juvenile children who were asleep in the living room area,” according to a police affidavit.

The victims, who police did not identify, told investigators that after the robbers left, they went to a neighbor's house to call 911.

Police declined further comment about the case, citing the sensitivity of the ongoing investigation.

A preliminary hearing for Cervone is tentatively set for Feb. 20 at Stoughton's office in Chicora.
