A new school could be coming to Evans City
Seneca Valley School Board has selected an architect to design a new Evans City Elementary and Middle School.
The board voted 7-2 Monday to begin negotiations of a proposed agreement with Pittsburgh-based CannonDesign for the design of the building, which would replace the 79-year-old Evans City K- 6 School. Susan Harrison and Kathy Whittle voted against the motion.
The board has been deliberating between four architectural firms for the job since August, and the decision has been put off several times. Those firms included CannonDesign, Crabtree Rohrbaugh & Associates, Architectural Innovations and Stantec.
A straw poll at the Jan. 23 board meeting showed that four board members were in favor on CannonDesign and three favored Crabtree Rohrbaugh. The vote was tabled after a clear choice did not emerge.
Jim Nickel, school board president, said the board later reached a consensus for CannonDesign at a recent building and grounds committee meeting.
