Franklin “Frank” O. Rape, 81, of Cranberry Township, passed away peacefully Saturday at the Saxony Health Center surrounded by his family.

Born Dec. 28, 1936, in Evans City, he was the son of the late Abraham J. and Susie E. Hartzell Rape.

Frank was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member and past commander of American Legion Post 512 of Unionville.

Frank was a hard worker. He worked full-time, but always made time to help someone with a broken furnace, tractor or plumbing problem.

He always enjoyed participating in the tractor pulls in the Big Knob Fair. He loved his 1951 John Deere Model R, a tractor he used as a young man on the Shouse Family Farm in Cranberry Township. He bought the tractor when the farm was sold in the 1990s and restored it.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Frank's caregivers from Heritage Hospice and Saxony Health Center.

He leaves behind three children and their spouses, Caryn and Keith Keilman of Johnstown, Kenneth A.R. Hughes and Joey L. Bryan of Providence, R.I., and Lisa and Dennis Swarmer of Valencia; four grandchildren, Phylicia (Tony) Kesterson, Phillip Keilman, and Chelsea and Dylan Swarmer; his great-granddaughter, Presley Kesterson; his brother, Ronald H. (Beverly) Rape; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy “Dottie” Rape and Patricia Thronley; his brother-in-law, Robert Landman; many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years, Vicki Sue Hughes Rape, who died Feb. 24, 2011; his sisters, Eleanor L. Stauffer, Marjorie A. Smith and Gladys M. Mohr; and his brothers, Carl A. Rape and Elder L. “Buzz” Rape.

RAPE — Friends of Franklin “Frank” O. Rape, who died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018, will be received from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Boylan Funeral Home, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Peter's Reformed Church, 314-320 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople, with the Rev. James R. Bertoti officiating.A graveside service with full military honors will follow at Evans City Cemetery in Evans City.If desired, memorial contributions may be made in Frank's memory to St. Peter's Reformed Church Memorial Fund, 314-320 E.
