Ralph M. Erb Jr.

Ralph M. Erb Jr. of Harrisville passed away at 10:07 p.m. Jan 16 at Grove City Medical Center.

He was born Sept. 24, 1940, in Grove City, Mercer County, to Ralph M. Erb Sr. and Frances Josephine McCoy Erb.

Ralph graduated from Harrisville High School in 1958 and later, the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science in 1960. Ralph began his career as a funeral director with McCabe Brothers in Pittsburgh.

He spent many years working for the Harold Jamison Funeral Home in Harrisville.

Ralph was affiliated with the Grace United Methodist Church in Grove City.

In addition to his funeral work, he served on the board of directors of Prairie Cemetery. Through the years, his other enterprises included owning and operating Porky's Smokehouse in North Pittsburgh and Baskin-Robbins Ice Cream in Oakland, Pittsburgh.

He was an accomplished organist. He played at clubs and weddings and through the years had been a teacher to numerous students.

Survivors include a number of very close friends in the community.

ERB — Funeral services for Ralph M. Erb Jr., who died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2018, were conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday by the Rev. Willard Morse at the Smith Funeral Home in Slippery Rock.Interment was in Prairie Cemetery in Harrisville.
