Ronald Stephen D'Alessandro

Ronald Stephen D'Alessandro

It is with unimaginable sadness that we are forced to write an obituary for Ronald Stephen D'Alessandro, who was born Jan. 6, 1939, in Pittsburgh.

He was the son of Bertha and John Matthews and Albert D'Alessandro.

He is survived by his older brother, Albert D'Alessandro (Janet) and younger sister, Judith Concannon (Jack deceased). He was the devoted husband and best friend to Jacqueline E. D'Alessandro (Strucker).

His legacy consists of four children, Ronald Bernard D'Alessandro (Misty Baker), Kenneth Joseph D'Alessandro (Adrienne Tiede), Bernard Joseph Herrmann (Beth Saunier) and Joanne Marie Hartman (Herrmann). His deeply loved grandchildren are Mary Hannah Lamberto, Zachary J. Herrmann (Michaela Burr fiancée), Austin L. Herrmann, Tyler S. Herrmann, Alyssa N. Herrmann, E. Justice R. Hartman, Cameron E. Herrmann, Muriel P. D'Alessandro, Josef S. Hartman and Matthew C. D'Alessandro. He also was recently blessed with a great-granddaughter, Mary Jane Grigsby. Ronald was also a loved and respected uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Ronald was well respected in the business community as the owner of D'Alessandro Stairs Inc. in Cranberry Township, which was in operation from 1976 until 2010.

He was a longtime member of North Suburban Builders Association and Metropolitan Builders Association. He has been a member of St. Gregory Roman Catholic Church in Zelienople since 1982, and served on the financial committee.

Ronald passed away peacefully, Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2018, at about 7:15 a.m. in the company of our dear family friend, Rozann Lamberto. He fought tirelessly against serious illnesses until his body had to finally succumb.

Now that the formalities are over, we need to honor this man for who he truly was: A world traveler who visited 49 countries with his wife, Jackie, a hunter of 50 plus years, who never had the heart to shoot anything, a handyman who could fix anything his family needed repaired, a businessman who only completed through 10th grade, however, had the financial knowledge of a Wall Street executive. He was a history buff and lover of reading, despite his dyslexia. He was a deep thinker whose “Papisms” will carry his grandchildren through life. Ron's smile lit up a room and his laugh was the music that his family danced to. Ron was an amputee who never let his absence of a leg affect his ability to run through life.

Fly high Pap and watch us from Heaven as you have on Earth.
