Lois Gosnell

Lois Carol Gemmer Gosnell of Butler passed away at home on Saturday morning at the age of 86 after a battle with pancreatic cancer.

Lois was born in Buffalo, N.Y., to Eugene W. Gemmer Sr. and Lillian Mester Gemmer.

Lois attended the University of Florida and worked as a library assistant at St. Mark's School in Southborough, Mass., and Lake Region High School in Orleans, Vt.

Lois was a member of St. John's Reformed Church of Butler.

She was involved with the Girl Scouts, church choirs, bell choir and the Ladies Aid Society of the Westmore Church in Westmore, Vt., which she was very proud.

Lois was a very talented woman who enjoyed spinning, weaving, knitting, tatting, needlepoint, stained glass, singing and cooking.

She and Jim enjoyed traveling both domestically and internationally after retirement. They even renewed their wedding vows on their 50th anniversary on the Yangtze River in China.

She is survived by her husband, James H. Gosnell Sr., whom she married June 14, 1952, and enjoyed a long loving marriage of 65 years. Lois is lovingly remembered by her husband; her children, Patricia (Harry) Reigh of Butler, and James H. Gosnell Jr. of Sutton, Mass.; her grandchildren, Christopher (Samantha) Reigh of Butler, Douglas Reigh of East Butler, Jesse Reigh of Butler, Kristin (Matt) Ribeiro of Tiverton, R.I., Heather Gosnell of Sutton, Mass., and Rachael Gosnell of Sutton, Mass.; three great-granddaughters, Abigail, Ashley and Heidi Reigh; and her brother, Eugene W. Gemmer Jr. of Washburn, Mo.

GOSNELL — There will be no public visitation for Lois Carol Gemmer Gosnell, who died Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018.A memorial service will be held later at the discretion of the family.Arrangements are being handled by the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E.
