Butler Transit Authority

The Butler Transit Authority (BTA) is now providing commuter service between Butler and Pittsburgh.

The authority operates two bus routes to and from Pittsburgh via Route 8 to Route 28. BTA starts at the downtown bus station in Butler and ends in downtown Pittsburgh at 7th and Smithfield streets and at the Allegheny T-Station on the North Shore.

Along the way, BTA stops at the following park and ride sites: Pullman Square (Butler), Glade Run Church (Cooperstown) and Duncan Avenue (Hampton Township). BTA also honors flag stops along Route 8.

A one-way fare is a flat rate of $5. Passengers must have exact change. Discount 15 trip and 31 trip passes are also available on the buses.

The authority operates the service with 45-foot, American made MCI coach buses. The buses are compressed natural gas, which run more efficiently and cleaner than diesel-fueled vehicles.

In July, the authority plans to add another commuter run to and from Pittsburgh via Route 68 to Interstate 79, to Interstate 279.

The final destinations in Pittsburgh for this run will be the North Side T-Station and the Allegheny T-Station on the North Shore.

The authority is excited to provide this service to the community. For more information and schedules, visit butlertransit.com.
