Richard S. “Dick” “Bing” Johns

Richard S. “Dick” “Bing” Johns, 91, of Spaces Corners, died Thursday at Heritage Meadows in Sunnyside.

He was born Jan. 9, 1927, in Butler, and was the son of the late Abraham and Sadie (Joseph) Johns.

He was married in Baltimore, Md., to Bernice “Bee” Donley of Butler.

Richard attended Butler High School and the University of Pittsburgh.

He played football and baseball at both Butler High School and the University of Pittsburgh, where he was also a member of the SAE fraternity.

He was an avid bowler.

Richard was a sergeant in the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean War.

He was a member of St. Anthony Orthodox Church in Butler.

Richard and Bee owned Twin Pines Bar and Grill for 30 years. He played softball and sponsored numerous local teams for many years. He loved going to Las Vegas, playing keno and the horse races.

For many years, Richard was an active member of Cowansville American Legion and Kittanning VFW. He was also a social member of Rayburn Township Fire Department.

He was friendly and had an outgoing personality. Still, if you wanted to argue about sports and politics, Richard was your guy. He was very popular and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Left behind to cherish his memory include his son, Jeffrey Johns of Kittanning; his grandson, Jeremy Johns; his sister, Diane (William) Rohrman of Austin, Texas; his nieces, Cyndi Burns of Connecticut, Kristin Merz and family of Austin, Texas, Diane Raimondi of Ford City, and Alisha (Raimondi) McCaffrey of Connecticut; his nephews, Robert Rohrman and family of Chicago, Brian Rohrman and family of Charlotte, N.C., and Michael Raimondi of Kittaning.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Beatrice “Bee” Johns; his uncles, Fred Joseph of Las Vegas, Danny Joseph of Slippery Rock, George Joseph of Iowa; his sister, Marian Raimondi; and his nephew, James Raimondi.

JOHNS — Friends of Richard S. “Dick” “Bing” Johns, who died Thursday, March 1, 2018, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday at Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home, 200 S. McKean St., Kittanning.Funeral services will be held at noon on Tuesday at St. Anthony Orthodox Church, 400 S. 6th Ave., Butler, with the Rev.
