Camper destroyed by fire
CONNOQUENESSING TWP — Spring cleaning turned disastrous Saturday night at Buttercup Woodlands Campground.
A seasonal camper and shed were destroyed, while two other campers sustained significant damage in a fire.
The fire started when a man was burning trash behind his camper and the blaze spread to dry grass and leaves, a wooden shed and eventually his trailer and wooden deck, campground owner Ed Tanski said.
No injuries were reported. All three campers were insured, per the campground's policy.
The victim is a man in his 70s from Allison Park, Allegheny County, Tanksi said. His truck was not damaged. Many campers live within a one or two hour drive of the campground and come and go throughout the season.
