Martha M. Barto
Martha M. Barto, 94, of Butler passed away Friday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.
She was born June 11, 1923, in Ellwood City to the late Harvey R. Wagner and the late Bessie M. Flinner Wagner.
Martha was a member of Saint Andrews United Presbyterian Church, American Legion Post 117 Auxiliary, a former member of the Butler Farm Show and a former member of the Butler Fair. She enjoyed playing bingo.
She is survived by her five sons, Richard Barto and his wife, Denise, of Charleston, S.C., Kenneth Barto and his wife, Linnette, of Butler, Bill Lee Barto and his wife, Joanna, of Butler, Donald Barto and his wife, Kathy, of Butler, and Daniel Barto and his wife, Lisa, of Butler; one daughter, Nancy Jo Gilson and her husband, Scott, of Slippery Rock; 11 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; one brother, Floyd Wagner and his wife, Norma Jean, of Butler; one sister, Donna Lee Shogren and her husband, Paul, of Oakland, Md.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gale Richard Barto, whom she married Feb. 22, 1941, and who died Jan. 11, 1996; two granddaughters; one infant grandson; one brother; and one infant sister.
BARTO — Friends of Martha M. Barto, who died Friday, March 16, 2018, will be received 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor Merry H. Meloy of Saint Andrews United Presbyterian Church officiating.
