A riding lawn mower apparently sparked a fire Saturday afternoon, May 5, 2018, that destroyed a detached garage and damaged a house on Watterson Lane off Route 308 in Center Township, authorities said. No one was injured in the blaze, which started about 3:40 p.m. A sport utility vehicle and other belongings, including the mower, in the wood-frame garage were also gutted. Firefighters had to remove the windshield to free a driver trapped in a pickup truck that crashed on Route 268 in Fairview Township on Saturday night. The truck sheared off a utility pole, causing a power outage.
