Business major charged with selling drugs
SLIPPERY ROCK — A business major at Slippery Rock University is facing felony charges after county narcotics officers seized more than $9,000 in currency from his apartment.
Officers say they also found about 1½ pounds of suspected marijuana during a warrant search Friday at the home on Grove City Road.
The defendant, 24-year-old Dalton P. Welsh, was later arraigned and he is to appear next week at a preliminary hearing.
The Butler County Drug Task Force said they utilized a police informant to arrange for a pair of controlled marijuana buys with Welsh on May 10 and Thursday in Slippery Rock.
In each alleged buy, according to court documents, the defendant sold about two ounces of marijuana to the informant for $350.
Officers on Friday obtained a search warrant for Welsh's apartment as part of the investigation. They found him sleeping in a bedroom.
A search, documents said, turned up a cooler containing about 24 ounces of marijuana, and THC wax in the refrigerator.
