Hartung 100th birthday
Frances Hartung celebrated her 100th birthday with an open house June 9 at St. John’s Lutheran Home in Mars.
She was born June 9, 1918, on the Hartung farm on Waterstation Road, Evans City.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
She is survived by five nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
In 1938, she started teaching at John’s School and Stamm School, both one-room schoolhouses in Forward Township. She then taught at Mars Public School before moving to North Allegheny, having taught 36 years.
She lived 96 years in Butler County.
She is a member of Old Union Presbyterian Church, 200 Union Church Road, Mars.
