Susan Trill O'Shea
Susan Trill O'Shea, 70, passed away May 2 in Jupiter, Fla., after a long battle with kidney disease.
Susan was born Oct. 29, 1947, in Butler, the daughter and first child of Eugene and Genevieve Thompson of Foxburg, Pa.
Susan's kind and compassionate nature and desire for helping others drove her to seek a career in nursing after graduating from Allegheny-Clarion Valley High School.
In 1967, Susan married Thomas Trill. Together, they had a son, Timothy “Tim” Trill of Jupiter, Fla.
In 1973, Susan moved to New Haven, Conn., with her son, Tim. There, she worked in the labs of Yale New Haven Hospital and later went on to become the founder and director of women's health services.
In 1976, while vacationing in Saint Martin, Susan met Gabor Fodor, world-renowned organic chemist and director of the West Virginia University chemistry department. Susan and Gabor had an immediate connection and in 1978, they were married.
In 1979, Susan and her son, Tim, moved to Palm Beach, Fla., where she spent her days working in retail at restaurants and modeling for Ungaro and Pucci.
In 1980, Susan met life-long companion, Walter Polifka Jr., and together they raised Susan's son, Tim.
In 1983, Susan's passion for helping others compelled her to return to the medical industry as the national marketing director for Clinipad and later on, Pilling Weck Surgical. Her newfound career took her to live in San Francisco, Calif., Guilford, Conn., Philadelphia, Pa., and Cary, N.C.
In 1995, Susan retired, due to an illness and eventually returned to her hometown of Foxburg. Soon after, she joined her son, Tim, in Palm Beach, Fla.
Susan's appreciation, love and passion for life was contagious. She was a wonderful daughter, mother, wife and friend. With an empathetic and generous spirit, Susan truly made a positive impact in the lives of those around her and she will never be forgotten.
Susan is survived by her son, Timothy “Tim” Trill and his wife, Laura; her sister, Vieve Jack and her husband, Jay; her brother, Leonard Thompson and his wife, Mary; five nephews, Jeremy, Judd and Neal Jack, and Brayton and Timothy Thompson; her brother-in-law, Jay Mann; and her estranged husband, James P. O'Shea, whom she married in 1988.
Susan was preceded in death by her sister, Toni Mann.
