Partial settlement reached in hibiscus lawsuit

This is Edward & Audrey Cramer. They are filing a lawsuit against Buffalo Twp. and others after their home was raided for marijuana plants that were hibiscus plants.

A settlement has been reached in a civil lawsuit filed against local police department and an insurance company, but only on the insurance company's behalf. The lawsuit continues against the township and named police officers.

Nationwide Insurance and agent Jonathan Yeamans have entered into a confidential settlement agreement with Edward and Audrey Cramer, of Buffalo Township, after being sued by the couple for their role in an incident in October 2017 that alleges police acted on a false tip from the insurance adjuster that they were growing marijuana. Those plants were later found to be hibiscus, the lawsuit claims.

The insurance company and Yeamans were removed from the lawsuit filed in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania.

Attorney Kyle McGee, who is representing the township and named officers declined to comment.
