Pool stick assault brings jail term

Adam Flick

A Cabot man was sentenced to county prison Wednesday after being charged with assaulting another person with a broken pool stick in September.

Adam J. Flick, 41, was sentenced to 6 to 12 months in the Butler County Prison by Judge William Shaffer. His parole will then be followed by 5 years of probation, and he was ordered to pay court costs and $2,000 in restitution, as well as complete 50 hours of community service.

Flick pleaded guilty to misdemeanor simple assault and terroristic threats on May 3.

State police said Flick assaulted another person with the weighted end of a pool stick during incident in the 200 block of Anderson Road, Penn Township, on Sept. 23.

Police said Michael Lex and another man were sleeping on a couch in the home, when Flick entered through an unlocked door and hit Lex several times with a pool stick before leaving the home.

Lex reported that he had never seen Flick before and did not know why Flick was assaulting him. Police said a 21-ounce broken end of a wooden pool stick, about 10 inches long, was recovered from the scene.

Flick called the incident “out of character,” apologizing.

“To the victim, there is no excuse for what I did,” he said. “I want to apologize to my wife ... to the community and to the court for being here under these circumstances.”
