Susan Marie McElravy, 67, of Slippery Rock passed away on Thursday afternoon at UPMC Passavant Hospital in McCandless Township.

Born April 9, 1951, in Butler, she was the daughter of Charles (Chad) and Marie (Mary) Sziszurok Aldinger.

Susan married William Paul “Bill” McElravy on June 3, 1972.

She was a graduate of Karns City High School and Jameson School of Nursing. She earned degrees at Slippery Rock University and Case Western University.

She was of the Lutheran faith and had attended the East Brook ECO Presbyterian Church.

Susan worked in the coronary care unit of UPMC Jameson Hospital and was a nursing instructor at various colleges. She left a lasting impression on her students.

Susan enjoyed crafts and cooking. She was a voracious reader and an excellent seamstress. She loved animals, especially her canine friend, Kimba.

Surviving are her husband, Bill; her mother, Mary Aldinger of Butler; a sister, Kathy Seeman and her husband, Terry, of Cranberry Township; a sister-in-law, Shelley Meshanko; a brother-in-law, Joseph (Sharon) McElravy; and her aunt, Genevieve Gall. Many nieces and nephews complete the family.

McELRAVY — Visitation for Susan Marie McElravy, who died Thursday, June 21, 2018, will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. until the funeral service at 10 a.m. Monday at Smith Funeral Home, 310 W. Neshannock Ave., New Wilmington. The Rev. Jason Schepp, pastor of the East Brook ECO Presbyterian Church, and the Rev. Jeff Miller, nephew of the deceased and minister of Harvest Bible Chapel in Pittsburgh, will be officiating.Interment will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Plain Grove Township, Lawrence County.Memorials may be given in Susan's name to East Brook (ECO) Presbyterian Church, 3727 PA 388, New Castle, PA 16101, or Compassion International.
