Woman receives time in prison, probation
A Butler County woman arrested in February after state police stumbled onto a drug deal in Lawrence County was sentenced to jail time and a lengthy term of probation Wednesday by President Judge Thomas Doerr.
Nancy A. Hinchberger, 51, was sentenced to a total of 11½ to 23 months in Butler County Prison and 48 months of probation stemming from plea agreements in six separate cases, most of which dealt with drug-related charges. She was also given credit for 194 days of time served and ordered to complete a total of 60 hours of community service.
Hinchberger was most-recently arrested in February after state police in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County, stumbled upon what they called a planned drug deal near the Lawrence-Butler county line.
Hinchberger, who at the time was wanted on three bench warrants here and three arrest warrants out of Butler County for cases involving drug trafficking and possession, was found in the company of an Armstrong County man and later told police that she had been awaiting an order of cocaine. Police also found drug paraphernalia, contraband and about 200 pills in the truck in which Hinchberger was a passenger.
As part of plea deals in the six cases adjudicated Wednesday — three of which were filed this year and three in 2017 — Hinchberger pleaded guilty Aug. 8 to charges of false identification to law enforcement, possession of drug paraphernalia, two counts of possession of a controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, and selling a noncontrolled substance represented as a controlled substance.
All other charges in those cases were dismissed.
