Girl bumped by car on Center Avenue is OK
BUTLER TWP — A trip with siblings on Sunday evening to get some goodies at the Sheetz on Center Avenue could have turned out a lot worse.
Officer David Tedeski said township police units, fearing the worst, sped to the scene at 1117 Center Avenue around 6:30 p.m. when they heard a 6-year-old girl had been hit by a car near the convenience store.
Luckily, the young girl was shaken and complained of a scratch, but was not transported to the hospital by Butler Ambulance personnel, who also responded to the scene.
Tedeski said the girl and her older siblings, who live nearby, had walked to the Sheetz for a treat.
The girl, clad in a flouncy red skirt, ran out into traffic on the return trip and was struck by a passing car, Tedeski said.
The driver stopped immediately and remained on the scene until the girl's parents arrived a few minutes later. Tedeski said no citations would be issued.
