10:56 p.m. Monday — Brent A. Smith, 28, of Butler was caught with suspected marijuana and other drug contraband following a traffic stop on South Main Street near Morton Avenue. Police said he was pulled over for having a faulty license plate light on his car.

An officer noted a “strong odor” of marijuana coming from the vehicle, according to court documents. Smith eventually admitted there was marijuana in the trunk. A consent search, police said, turned up a bag of suspected marijuana, a marijuana grinder and smoking bowl.

Smith is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, and a lighting violation.

Tuesday — Police charged a Clearfield County woman with being more than twice the state’s legal limit for alcohol stemming from a one-vehicle wreck earlier this month on Kiester Road at Campus Drive.

The defendant, Brianna F. Hannon, 22, of Dubois, suffered minor injuries Aug. 8 when her car struck a utility pole, according to court documents. She was bleeding slightly from the head when police got there.

Hannon allegedly admitted that she had “two beers.” She subsequently failed field sobriety tests and was taken to Grove City Medical Center for treatment of injuries and a blood draw.

Police later obtained a search warrant for her medical results. Toxicology results showed her blood-alcohol level was 0.178 percent, documents said. She also had marijuana in her system.

In Pennsylvania, a blood-alcohol level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated.

Hannon is charged with driving under the influence, driving under the influence of a controlled substance, driving under the influence of a combination of drugs and alcohol, disregarding traffic lanes and careless driving.
