Boozing boater busted, Moraine park rangers say
MUDDY CREEK TWP — A Butler man is accused of drunken boating at Moraine State Park.
The defendant, 34-year-old Roy C. Jones II, also collided with another boat shortly before 7:30 p.m. Aug. 12 on Lake Arthur, authorities said.
Park rangers Monday charged Jones with operating a watercraft under the influence, reckless and negligent operation of a watercraft, and possessing and/or consuming alcohol at a state park.
Authorities said they responded to the lake after a caller reported an unsafe boater driving a rental boat on the water.
Authorities eventually spoke to the defendant and he appeared to be intoxicated. Rangers found seven empty cans and five full cans of an unspecified alcoholic beverage in the boat he was driving.
