Betty A. Fair
Betty A. Fair, 83, of Chicora, formerly of Hornertown, passed away Sunday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.
Betty was born Oct. 24, 1934, in Parker Township in Butler County. She was the daughter of the late George and Margaret Ace Merchant.
She was a 1952 graduate of Bruin High School and a member of Harvest Community Church in Fairview.
Betty enjoyed making beaded ornaments, playing bingo and working in her flower bed.
Betty retired in 1997 from the Karns City School District, where she had been employed as a custodian.
She is survived by her husband, James H. Fair of Chicora, whom she married on June 20, 1952. Also surviving are her daughter, Debbie A. (Joe) Bly, of Chicora; four grandchildren: Joseph (Angela) Bly, of White Oak, Texas, Julie (Joseph) Marshall, of Chicora, Shaun (Melissa) Sabich, of Marine City, Mich. and Shannon (Chris) Dargaj, of Marine City, Mich.; 12 great-grandchildren: Cody, Tyler (Megan) Bly, Jacob (London) Bly, Breanna Bly, and Stephanie Bly, all of White Oak, Texas; Makayla Sabich, Savannah Sabich, and Logan Sabich; and Madelyn Dargaj and Wyatt Dargaj, all of Marine City, Mich.; and three great-great-grandchildren: Brinlee Bly, Bryson Bly and Adalynn Bly, all of White Oak, Texas; one sister, Emma Jean Scott, of Emlenton; one sister-in-law, Sandra Merchant, of Butler; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Wanda L. Sabich, who died Sept. 19, 2011; one son-in-law, Dennis Sabich; one granddaughter, Jennifer Bly, who died May 18, 1996; one stepfather, John Frineck; three brothers: Joseph, George and John Merchant; two sisters: Shirley Craig and Martha Shoup; and one brother-in-law, Ralph Fair, who was killed in World War II.
FAIR — Friends of Betty A. Fair, who died Sunday, Sept. 16, 2018, will be received from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Hile Funeral Home, 128 Main St., Karns City. A funeral service with Betty's pastor, the Rev.
