James Robert Johnston

James Robert Johnston, 79, of Lancaster Township passed away on Fridaywhile under the care of the VA Butler Healthcare Medical Center.

Born Sept. 24, 1938, in Gouverneur, N.Y., he was the son of the late George Johnston and Dorothy Newcombe Johnston.

Jim was an excellent stained glass artist, who mastered the patience and skill to create his beautiful pieces of art. He was most proud of the “Last Supper” stained glass he created for the Grace Church of Harmony.

He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 57 years, Carolyn Bergman Johnston, whom he married on May 13, 1961; his children, Barbara (Donald) Druschel of Harmony, and David (Cindy) Johnston of Slippery Rock; his grandchildren, Danny (Ariel) Druschel, Amber (Shawn) Thomas, Bethany (Bryan) Curzi, Jacob (Kristen) Johnston and Matthew (Lauren) Johnston; his great-grandchildren, Kylie and Tyler Curzi; and his sister, Candy (Edward) Glenz.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his sisters, Patricia and Barbara.

JOHNSTON — A funeral ceremony for James Robert Johnston, who died Friday, Sept. 21, 2018, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesdayat Grace Church of Harmony, 538 Main St., Harmony, with Pastor Peter Everett officiating.Jim will be laid to rest with military honors at Grace Church Cemetery.Arrangements were entrusted to Boylan Funeral Home, Zelienople.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his honor to the VA Butler Healthcare Medical Center, 353 North Duffy Road, Butler, PA 16001.Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family at www.boylanfuneralservices.com.
