10 Challenge Program students get awards for academic success

To kick-off the 2018-19 program year, students from Butler County AVTS were recently introduced to The Challenge Program during an orientation assembly at their school.

Students in the sophomore, junior and senior classes were introduced to local career opportunities. Throughout the year, they will be eligible to compete for financial awards in five areas linked with academic and workplace success: Attendance, Academic Improvement, Academic Excellence, STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) and Community Service.

At the end of the assembly, five juniors and five seniors from Butler County AVTS received awards for the work they accomplished last year.

Awards went to Brittany Wolfe and Madison Rees for Attendance, Kylee Ackerman and Curtis French for STEM, Daniel Blair and Ashton Rider for Academic Excellence, Taylor Shepard and Jarred Smith for Academic Improvement, and Hannah Nickl and Riley Ferguson for Community Service.

In the Challenge Program at Seneca Valley High School, awards for work accomplished last year were recently presented to Tory Grewar and Jacob Geil for Academic Excellence, Michael Beggy and Jacob Stebbins for STEM, Brooke Raschke and Angelina Khoury for Community Service, John Lutz and Ari Bilger for Attendance, and Hiruni Herat and Odalys Lopez for Academic Improvement.

The program is sponsored by XTO Energy.
