Carl D. Gladd Jr.

Carl D. Gladd Jr., 58, of Butler passed away Tuesday at his residence.

He was born Nov. 25, 1959, in Butler, and was the son of the late Carl Dewane Gladd Sr. and Dorothy (Stevenson) Gladd.

Carl had attended Crossfire Church.

He retired from AK Steel from the maintenance department.

Carl was an avid hunter and fisherman. He grew up hunting deer in the woods near their house with his dad and brothers.

His favorite place to be was on Lake Erie in his boat holding a fishing pole. He spent his summers this way with some of the best friends he ever had in his life at Virginia's Beach Campground.

He was known as MacGyver by his closest friends because he could fix anything!

Carl loved God and his family with all of his heart. His grandchildren were the light of his life. He is greatly missed by all who love him.

Surviving are his wife, Sara (McKinnis) Gladd; three daughters, Samantha (Justin) Maple of Waynesboro, Va., Amanda (Scott) Hatkevich of Ellwood City, and Amy (Kyler) Morrison of Ashland, Ohio; three grandchildren, Hudson, Juliana and Walden; a sister, Debbie (Robert) Shearer of Butler; four brothers, Rick (Michelle) Gladd of Butler, Chester (Susan) Gladd of Pittsburgh, Michael Gladd of Butler, and Randy (Debbie) Bishop of Mobile, Ala.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

GLADD — A meet and greet for friends of Carl D. Gladd Jr., who died Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2018, will be held by the family at 10 a.m. Friday at Community Alliance Church, 800 Mercer Road, Butler.A memorial service will be held following the meet and greet at 11 a.m. at the church.Interment will be private.Arrangements were entrusted to Young Funeral Home of Butler.Please visit www.youngfuneralhomes.com.
