Audrey M. Sherman

Audrey M. Sherman, 90, of Zelienople passed away Saturday while at home under the loving care of her husband.

Born Dec. 30, 1927, in Eau Claire, she was the daughter of the late Paul Hilliard and Ethel Hovis Hilliard.

Audrey was committed to community service and her faith. She served for years as minority inspector for the Election Board and as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and the Passavant Health Center.

She was a member of St. Gregory Catholic Church in Zelienople where she was a member of the St. Anne Guild and served as usher.

Audrey was a member of the Zelienople Lions Club and vice president of St. Vincent de Paul Society. She excelled at golf, bridge, and many other sports. She was one of the first managers for Zelienople's highly successful girls' softball team, “The Petticoats.”

She is remembered by her family for her caring ways, competitive spirit, and ever encouraging guidance. Audrey will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends.

Audrey leaves behind to cherish her memory, her beloved husband of 71 years, Edward L. Sherman; her children, Dr. Judith Black, and her husband, Dr. Milton, of Fox Chapel, Edward L. Sherman Jr. and his wife, Linda, of Zelienople, Joan Trach and her husband, Robert, of Chicago, Ill., and James Sherman and his partner, Fred Roof, of Palm Springs, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Lois (Si) Shaffer and Kay (Ken) Artman.

SHERMAN — The family of Audrey M. Sherman, who died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2018, will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the BOYLAN FUNERAL HOME, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Gregory Catholic Church, 2 W. Beaver St., Zelienople. A reception will follow at Ritzert Hall.She will be laid to rest at St. Gregory Cemetery in Zelienople.In lieu of flowers, Audrey's family suggests that memorial contributions be made in her honor to St. Gregory Catholic School or to St. Vincent de Paul.Expressions of sympathy may be shared with Audrey's family at www.boylanfuneralservices.com.
